WILLEMSTAD: Curaçao was recently the hosting country for the 36th edition of Carifta Aquatic games that took place from April 6 to 10, 2023. This was the second time that CARIFTA was held in Curaçao- the first time was in 2005. This year Curaçao hosted representatives of 21 countries and 470 young athletes. Banco di Caribe is proud to have been part of this spectacular sporting event.

This year, 21 countries confirmed their participation for the championships. Amongst them Aruba, Bonaire, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Anguila, Surinam, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago. Curaçao was well represented with a delegation of 55 young and promising athletes. The competitions that took place at Bennie Leito Swimming pool, the Enith Brigitha Swimming Pool, the Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort and the open waters of Caracasbaai consisted of 4 aquatic categories; “Beach Waterpolo”, “Artistic Swimming”, “Speed Swimming“ and “Open Water Swimming”.  

Banco di Caribe congratulates the Curaçao Aquatic Association that together with their partners took on this huge task to once again organize the CARIFTA games in Curaçao. Congrats to all parents and volunteers who took care of everything ‘outside the pool’ allowing the young athletes to focus on their training and competition.  Banco di Caribe is so proud to have been part of this trajectory. A special congratulation to the talented Curaçao athletes who won in their categories, Adreia Ferreira (Speed Swimming), Dellany Almandriz Prieto, Grace Borrechach and Kyra van den Berg (Artistic Swimming). Congrats to all participants of Beach Waterpolo who also had a great match during the exhibition competition.
